The Monday before vacation and a video…

July 6, 2009 at 10:49 am

For some strange reason, I opted to interrupt a perfect flow of 10 days work free with one last  Monday at my HCI desk. Truth be told, I’m hoping my new macbook pro arrives today! I’m also making sure the my i’s are dotted as well as my t’s before embarking on my journey in the North Carolina hills where I’m hoping to blog from a shiny new laptop.

Ah, I can already feel the green trees bathing me in oxygen. And, I’m not talking palm trees here. I love palm trees, but tomorrow I’ll be surrounded by pines and fir trees in all their scintillating glory.  In Florida, I’m reminded of their delicious scent only through substandard facsimiles like pine incense or pine sol floor cleaner.

In the meantime, I want to share a really great preview video of the teen series, LOUDER THAN WORDS, that I recently wrote about. As one of the promotional tools for selling books INTO the stores and to the media, I think the video producer and series’ book editor, Deborah Reber did a really great job.  These are real stories written by real teen girls and Deborah’s created an effective vehicle for introducing us to them.

Have a look yourself and let me know what you think. Better yet, share the video with a young person or two in your life and report back on what THEY think.

About this Blog
I started this blog to create a "salon" type atmosphere where aspiring and seasoned authors, book lovers and lovers of the creative process can convene. My contribution is a mix of what's going on at my day job at HCI Books and beyond. And, beyond, in my imagination casts a pretty wide net.Creative posts are welcome but must fit in to the prevailing theme. (Say "book" a couple of times in your post, at least!) I'm PR Director at HCI for 14 years, consulting on the side, blogging, and studying operatic singing. I'm mother to Tito, Kiwi, Rashi and Mochi, three tweety birds and one puddy cat, respectively. I live high up over the beautiful intracoastal waterway and Atlantic ocean and I love snapping scenic photos on my iphone. I love the beach, and would be happy just pitching a tent there (with air conditioning). Welcome.
