About this Blog
I started this blog to create a "salon" type atmosphere where aspiring and seasoned authors, book lovers and lovers of the creative process can convene. My contribution is a mix of what's going on at my day job at HCI Books and beyond. And, beyond, in my imagination casts a pretty wide net.Creative posts are welcome but must fit in to the prevailing theme. (Say "book" a couple of times in your post, at least!)
I'm PR Director at HCI for 14 years, consulting on the side, blogging, and studying operatic singing. I'm mother to Tito, Kiwi, Rashi and Mochi, three tweety birds and one puddy cat, respectively. I live high up over the beautiful intracoastal waterway and Atlantic ocean and I love snapping scenic photos on my iphone. I love the beach, and would be happy just pitching a tent there (with air conditioning).
Welcome.

Can’t wait!
I had finished my book Sex For Grownups, or so I thought. Then I spent this weekend reviewing the final galley. Blessings on deadlines and the limits they impose. My author’s eye depicted (minor) errors, my author’s soul wanted to rewrite an entire chapter. Fortunately, since the galley had to be returned today, I settled into reading the book, made the appropriate corrections and left rewriting to my dream world and future books. Reading my own words after not seeing them for over a month and returning with a fresh eye felt a bit like being a new reader privileged to read someone else’s book. With my reader, not author eyes, I was a bit taken aback at how much I learned. What a gift! Sort of like touching a familiar intricately hand woven quilt, only to find new threads and a new design. The experience was like comfortably wrapping the comfortably silky threads around my shoulders while still getting familiar with all the newness it brought me. I only hope others will learn, laugh and enjoy the complexity of the weave while taking time to wrap themselves in both the simplicity and depth of so many of the concepts. I so look forward to reader’s reactions comments and suggestions. What a joy to write about writing –and how wondrously new each reading can be.
