On Saturday night for 24th time, members of major news and entertainment media were recognized for producing outstanding works that raise public awareness of animal issues. Every year, the Humane Society America celebrates their own “Oscars” for the cause of animals at the Genesis Awards, and this year one of the winners was an HCI author.  A tireless news journalist, author, vegan and animal activist, Jane Velez-Mitchell (iWant) deservedly  won the Genesis Award in the Newsmagazine category for her nightly HLN news program, “Issues with Jane Velez-Mitchell.”

But, Jane was not the only HCI author lurking at the Beverly Hilton this past night. Dr. Ernie Ward, author of Chow Hounds was purported to be milling about the star-studded gala. And his book was tidily tucked into the gift bags of the 800 guests at the award ceremony. Guess you could call it a double header! So rewarding to promote books by authors who really care about our furred, feathered and finned little friends.
